I would like to connect with others who are raising their kids in a minority language in Japan.
I hope we can share experiences with the pluses and minuses of local school vs international school.
Also, strategies and challenges that might be unique to living in Japan. For example, my general feeling is that it takes a lot more work to be literate in Japanese than in European languages.
Perhaps we could make a playgroup despite any geographic differences between us. Meet somewhere to go camping, onsen, or we may happen to be visiting each other's locales by chance.
To give you some background, I visited several international schools in Tokyo and will visit both Japanese public and private schools. Presently my son is in a public nursery though he did spend a year in an international nursery. I am presently leaning towards a dual-language school in Tokyo as the end-game but that is still not decided as I would greatly benefit from the experiences of others in this community.
Terry, I would recommend that you also connect with the "Education in Japan" community, led by the always-helpful Aileen Kawagoe. This could be an excellent source of support for your educational and social aims. For all the details, see...

SheilaC: I am concern about our upcoming big change to Public school with all English teaching and minimal Spanish. We have been lucky until now with Spanish speaking Nanny and Spanish immersion preschool. We are doing 2-day per week with Spanish after school.

Amy: @sheilac, I suggest you create an actual thread on the "Questions & Concerns" board, so fellow Zoo Keepers can help you with your concerns. 256 characters is too little to discuss something that is so important to your heart
